About The Position

This role involves learning and effective communication, both oral and written. Responsibilities include speaking with the Resident Engineer, other contract staff, and facility staff. The ability to read and interpret plans and specifications is crucial for preparing written contract administration documentation such as daily narratives (work reports), special inspection reports, daily time and material records, and documenting unit price work. The position requires identifying potential extra work issues, keeping the Resident Engineer informed of these issues, and preparing estimates for extra work. This includes preparing related sketches and documentation, reviewing plans for constructability and providing comments, and reviewing contractor payment requests, recommending their reasonableness to the Resident Engineer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering is preferred.
  • A minimum 10 years’ experience preferred inspecting construction work, varied in size (projects ranging from $200K to $25 million plus) and complexity (multiple crews and crew sizes per shift).
  • Ability to pass a JFK SIDA badge background check at a High Level (mandatory).
  • A valid Driver's license required.
  • Trained in excavation protection, confined space and permit required confined space OSHA regulations and 10 hr. OSHA construction safety training.

Nice To Haves

  • NICET Level 4, Bolting, Masonry, Concrete, Asphalt Technology and/or Work Zone Safety Certifications desirable.

Responsibilities
