About The Position

A Civil Inspector supporting gas and electric utility infrastructure provides field inspection, documentation, and quality assurance for civil, structural, and geotechnical activities associated with utility projects. This includes oversight of gas and electric transmission and distribution facilities, substations, duct banks, vaults, foundations, and site development. The inspector ensures all work complies with utility standards, engineering specifications, safety regulations, and environmental requirements. This is a great opportunity for someone to influence the construction and renovations of both facilities and utility infrastructure. The candidate needs to be able to work with minimal supervision and make decisions that are in the best interests of the Client.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings, specifications, and details.
  • Adequate computer skills and familiarity with the Microsoft suite of platforms (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or Engineering, and a minimum of 2 years' experience or, Associate's Degree in Construction Management or Engineering, and a minimum of 4 years' experience or, High school diploma/GED and minimum 5 years' experience in Electrical, Civil, and/or Mechanical systems, or related technical experience.
  • Experience with excavation, concrete, and civil construction is required.
  • OSHA 10 certification is required.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best construction practices.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have strong analytical, technical, and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 30 certification would be preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough field inspections of gas and electric utility infrastructure to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and safety standards.
  • Document inspection findings accurately and provide detailed reports to project managers and stakeholders.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to utility standards and environmental regulations.
  • Collaborate with project teams to address any discrepancies or issues identified during inspections.
  • Review and interpret engineered drawings and specifications to guide inspection processes.
  • Ensure quality assurance by verifying that construction materials and methods meet project requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors and utility personnel to facilitate smooth project execution and resolve any on-site challenges promptly.
