About The Position

In an assigned outlying gas and electric area away from the district office to promote the interests, uphold prestige, interpret and apply policies, improve public relations, and maintain company property. This role involves detecting and correcting faults on distribution systems, connecting and disconnecting customers, reading meters, distributing bills, collecting accounts, and adjusting complaints. The representative will also explain company rules, rates, and policies, and follow established procedures and pertinent regulations. In some cases, this role may involve maintaining a small hydro plant and/or substation, servicing equipment, replacing fuses, patrolling lines, trimming trees, climbing poles, and assisting line crews.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1 year experience as a journeyman line technician
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License prior to the end of trial period
  • Subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements under 49 CFR Part 40 and FMCSA (Part 382) and PHMSA (Part 199) regulations.
  • Reasonable knowledge of service work ability to plan and execute work with very little supervision
  • Thorough knowledge of company Safety Rules and Operating Practices and requirements of the State Electrical Code as it relates to line construction and maintenance
  • An understanding of company Safety Rules, Operating Practices and State Codes relating to gas operations, construction and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated sense of responsibility to the company and the public.
  • Some supervisory ability.

Responsibilities

  • Detects and corrects faults on distribution systems and report transmission system defects.
  • Connects and disconnects customers and reads meters.
  • Distributes bills, collect accounts, and adjust complaints.
  • Explains company rules, rates and policies.
  • Follows established procedures and knows and follows pertinent regulations.
  • In some cases, maintain a small hydro plant and/or substation.
  • Services equipment such as installing and maintaining customer services.
  • Replaces house, transformer, and junction fuses.
  • Patrols lines and trims trees.
  • Climbs poles and assists line crews.
  • Performs other duties which are similar, related or incidental to this position.
