About The Position

The Civil/Grading Superintendent will lead Assistant Superintendents, Forepersons, craft, and subcontractors to set direction and provide coaching. This role is responsible for field safety, including enforcing regulations, leading orientations and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), managing lifts, DOT regulations, telehandlers, and incidents. The Superintendent will plan and schedule labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors to meet productivity and cost targets. They will track field costs and schedules against estimates, identify risks and variances, and resolve issues promptly with the Site Manager. The role also involves driving quality according to the Project Quality Plan and Blattner standards, setting expectations for craft and subcontractors, and partnering with the Site Manager and other superintendents to support owner communications and negotiations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years supervising self-perform civil/grading crews (earthwork, grading, roads, drainage, foundations)
  • Strong safety leadership (OSHA/site rules, JHAs, cranes/lifts, DOT/telehandlers, incident management)
  • Proven field planning and cost/schedule control across labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors
  • QA/QC execution experience; ability to read specs/drawings and align work to the plan
  • Valid driver license with acceptable MVR
  • 100% travel with rotations

Nice To Haves

  • Utility-scale experience in mass grading, roads/drainage, erosion control, and foundations
  • History of developing frontline leaders and mentoring Field Engineers/Foreman
  • Confidence in owner-facing updates
  • Safety program implementation and coaching
  • Four-year degree in a construction or engineering related field

Responsibilities
