WSP is currently initiating a search for an experienced Civil/Geotechnical Engineer for our Tucson, AZ office. Be involved in projects with our US Mine Waste Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. In this role you will have the opportunity to work as a part of a regional team on challenging mining, heavy civil, and geotechnical projects. Your Impact Working within our Mine Waste team on civil and geotechnical engineering projects for the mining industry with opportunities to work on projects in other industries Performing engineering tasks such as: Site and material characterization Facility design including grading, storage capacity, and construction quantity evaluations. Slope stability, seepage, consolidation, liner system, and settlement analyses. Surface water management facility design and analysis Preparing portions of technical reports that document field and laboratory investigations, engineering analyses, and facility designs Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team of engineers, planners, and scientific professionals to execute project work, assisting with laying out installations, foundations, slopes, retaining structures, embankments, and other systems that are made or supported by soil or rock, calculating costs and quantities of material/equipment/labor, and ensuring project work conforms with specifications, permit applications, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos. Assisting with the preparation of project design packages including technical drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates Conduct geotechnical engineering studies and surveys to gain further information on a particular design, issue, and/or to plan for future needs. Performing domestic and international field assignments, such as geotechnical investigations and construction monitoring Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work. Complete training on assigned tasks. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
