About The Position

HBK Engineering is seeking a Field Lead to lead a field surveying crew. This role is responsible for carrying out survey work as directed by a licensed surveyor. The Field Lead will operate survey instruments, oversee crew members, collect accurate field data, ensure safety compliance, and maintain daily field records. They ensure work follows established procedures, plans, and specifications, typically working under close or general supervision. The work location is Texas.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of OSP survey experience in with combination of aerial and underground OSP survey is required.
  • Ability to travel up to 90% of the time and work nights/weekends when required.
  • Working knowledge of NESC rules.
  • Datacenter construction experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Attention to jobsite safety.
  • Working knowledge of OSP construction techniques and placement methods.
  • Physically capable of moving about on construction sites, public streets and parkways
  • Capable of lifting up to 40lbs
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to sit, kneel, and squat on a daily basis – minimal frequency of kneeling and squatting
  • Hand-eye coordination necessary to operate surveying equipment and measurements

Nice To Haves

  • PC knowledge and/or use and Microsoft Office Suite (Word / Excel) are preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
  • Construction experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree is a plus.
  • I.T./S.I. T Certification is a plus.
  • Surveying experience is a plus.
  • Aerial and/or underground OSP construction experience.

Responsibilities

  • Linear field boundary
  • Electrical Transmission Staking
  • Pipeline surveying
  • Basic SUE field work including Pipe & Cable Locating & GPR collection.
  • Basic terrestrial scanning projects
  • Proficient with GPS RTK staking and data collection as well as static observations
  • Familiar with use of total stations and robotic total stations.
  • Capable to operate an optical and digital level.
  • UAS Base Level - Part 107 FAA drone pilot
  • General construction layout accuracy expected: 0.20 feet horizontal, 0.10 feet vertical
