About The Position

RS&H is hiring a Civil Field Engineering Inspection Intern to join its Transportation Construction Management team in the Jacksonville, Florida area for Summer 2027. The intern will collaborate with and receive mentorship from engineering associates while gaining hands-on experience and insight into the Transportation Construction Management profession. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, motivated, honest, dependable team player with strong communication skills.

RS&H’s Transportation-Construction Management Practice serves public agencies and private clients across the United States. Its Construction Engineering and Inspections and Construction Management teams provide construction engineering, program management, specialized testing, and inspection services from preconstruction through maintenance and operations.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related program at an ABET-accredited university.
• Ability to work independently with general supervision and within a collaborative team environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Good driving record and a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to sit, stand, climb, bend, twist, or stoop frequently and for prolonged periods under various outdoor conditions.
• Ability to reach horizontally and vertically for required tasks.
• Ability to use construction or inspection safety equipment, including fall protection.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and shake up to 20 pounds.

• Prior internship or related experience.

Responsibilities

• Support inspection teams with field inspections.
• Verify dimensions of prepared and completed work.
• Collect and prepare data for evaluation.
• Perform engineering using computer-assisted engineering software and equipment.
• Prepare reports on site operations activities, including materials used and work completed.
• Provide support to engineering and project management associates.
