About The Position

Our Ontario Region is seeking a Civil/Environmental Engineer to join our North American Waste management team of 120 professionals providing traditional and emerging services with our waste and energy clients. This position is a phenomenal opportunity to be part of an established practice with an exciting future ahead. We are seeking a technically strong Environmental Engineer who wants to take an active role in our North American team to leverage GHD’s significant experience in new and innovative technologies. The role can be based out of any of our offices in Mississauga, Markham, Toronto, Whitby, Waterloo, Peterborough or Ottawa. Requirements

  • 6–10 years of relevant professional experience in environmental, landfill, solid waste, civil, or geotechnical engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to moderately complex infrastructure projects, ideally including: Landfill development, expansion, or closure, Environmental approvals and permitting, Site development, earthworks, or contaminated sites, Construction support or contract administration
  • Proven ability to work independently with limited supervision while collaborating within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for technical and client‑facing environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Civil, or Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensed in Ontario or eligible for registration
  • Valid authorization to work in Canada
  • Ontario‑based or willing to work from an Ontario office location

Responsibilities

  • Delivering and supporting solid waste and landfill projects across the project lifecycle, including planning, permitting, design, and construction phases
  • Independently prepare technical deliverables such as: Engineering reports and technical memoranda, Environmental permit and approval submissions, Design documentation and specifications
  • Apply sound professional judgment in coordinating technical inputs across environmental, geotechnical, and engineering disciplines.
  • Support construction activities including quality assurance, contractor coordination, and contract administration.
  • Engage directly with internal project managers, regulators, contractors, and clients as appropriate.
  • Contribute discipline expertise to proposals and scope development under senior guidance.
