Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in the surveying or construction industry
  • Working knowledge of computers
  • Professional communication, interpersonal, and public relations skills
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • High school degree or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in civil engineering technology
  • Construction surveying experience
  • Ability to test bituminous pavement and aggregates
  • Ability to use programs like Microsoft Office, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and geographic information systems (GIS)

Responsibilities

  • Perform crucial outdoor work for the county, tackling vital surveying and field activities to support high-quality road, bridge, and drainage system projects.
  • Measure grades, collect topography data, verify staking and layout plans, create project estimates, and use AutoCAD software to draft construction designs.
  • Document research findings and coordinate with the team to complete work.
  • Complete outdoor construction inspections, check job site safety, and ensure quality assurance.
  • Support smooth project operations by receiving and verifying construction materials, performing accurate field measurements, and tackling essential administrative duties like payroll.
  • Test samples to check for bituminous materials and aggregates.
  • Prepare highway maps, inspect highways and bridges, update infrastructure databases, and respond to questions from the public.
