About The Position

The Infracon Group of Companies is seeking an experienced Civil Construction Surveyor for civil construction, mining, pipeline maintenance, and infrastructure projects across Western Canada. This role is best suited for a detail-oriented and technically skilled surveyor with experience supporting active construction operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing layout, grade checks, as-builts, quantity measurements, and survey support for civil construction activities such as roadwork, earthworks, drainage, utilities, site development, mining support, and pipeline maintenance. We are looking for someone who can work closely with project managers, superintendents, foremen, equipment operators, engineers, and clients to ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and according to project specifications. The ideal candidate takes pride in accuracy, communicates clearly with field crews, and understands the importance of survey support in maintaining quality, production, and project controls. This is an excellent opportunity for a surveyor who enjoys varied project work and is open to supporting projects in different locations throughout Western Canada.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a surveyor in civil construction, roadwork, earthworks, mining, utilities, or pipeline-related projects
  • Strong understanding of construction layout, grading, survey control, as-builts, and field measurements
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans, profiles, cross-sections, specifications, and survey data
  • Experience using GPS, total stations, data collectors, levels, and survey software
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to communicate clearly with field crews, operators, supervisors, engineers, and project teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify layout or grade conflicts early
  • Ability to work independently while supporting active field operations
  • Reliable, organized, and willing to travel for project-based work
  • Strong commitment to safety and professional conduct
  • Previous civil construction surveying experience is required
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions
  • Ability to travel to project locations throughout Western Canada as required
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada

Nice To Haves

  • Diploma, certificate, or formal training in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering technology, construction management, or a related field is preferred
  • Experience in civil construction, mining, pipeline maintenance, road construction, drainage, utilities, reclamation, or earthworks is strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with GPS, total station, data collectors, survey software, and Microsoft Office is preferred
  • Experience with machine control, drone surveying, Civil 3D, Trimble, Topcon, Leica, or similar systems is considered an asset
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and reliable transportation are preferred
  • Ground Disturbance, CSTS, WHMIS, First Aid, H2S Alive, or other safety certifications are considered assets depending on project requirements

Responsibilities

  • Complete construction layout for civil construction, mining, roadwork, utility, drainage, and pipeline maintenance projects
  • Establish, verify, and maintain survey control points, benchmarks, alignments, elevations, and offsets
  • Provide grade, line, slope, and elevation information to foremen, operators, pipe crews, and field teams
  • Support layout for roads, pads, utilities, ditches, culverts, structures, trenches, slopes, and other civil works
  • Complete grade checks and quality checks to confirm work meets drawings, specifications, and project requirements
  • Assist field crews with practical layout and survey support to keep work progressing efficiently
  • Collect accurate field data for as-built records, progress tracking, quantity measurements, and project documentation
  • Prepare and maintain survey notes, field records, sketches, reports, and digital files
  • Support quantity take-offs, volume calculations, cut/fill checks, and progress measurement as required
  • Ensure survey information is organized, accurate, and available to project teams when needed
  • Identify discrepancies between field conditions, drawings, grades, or design information and communicate them promptly
  • Support project documentation requirements, client submissions, and turnover records
  • Operate and maintain survey equipment, including GPS, total stations, data collectors, levels, and related tools
  • Use survey software and digital platforms to process, manage, and share survey data
  • Upload, download, organize, and maintain design files, surfaces, alignments, control data, and field information
  • Ensure survey equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and stored
  • Troubleshoot basic equipment, data, and field layout issues
  • Support machine control setup, verification, and field checks where applicable
  • Work closely with project managers, superintendents, foremen, operators, engineers, subcontractors, and client representatives
  • Provide clear and timely survey information to support safe and efficient field operations
  • Communicate field conditions, layout concerns, grade issues, and potential conflicts to supervision
  • Support planning and sequencing by providing accurate survey data and field measurements
  • Adapt to changing project requirements, site conditions, weather, and operational priorities
  • Represent the Infracon Group of Companies professionally on project sites
  • Follow all company, client, and project safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices
  • Participate in daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, field-level hazard assessments, and site orientations
  • Work safely around active equipment, traffic, excavations, slopes, trenches, utilities, and changing site conditions
  • Use required personal protective equipment at all times
  • Identify and report hazards, incidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions
  • Maintain strong situational awareness while working independently or around active construction operations
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, accuracy, quality, and teamwork
