Civil Engineering Project Manager - Land Development
About The Position
Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Engineering Project Manager to join its Land Development practice in Roanoke, Virginia. The role leads diverse land development projects, including multifamily and mixed-use developments and public infrastructure such as schools, parks, and fire stations. The Project Manager guides teams through zoning entitlements, site plan approvals, and construction support while fostering a collaborative, fast-paced work environment. The position involves leading design efforts, overseeing project planning and delivery, preparing technical specifications and cost estimates, coordinating with clients and project stakeholders, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to business development. Timmons Group is a full-service engineering and technology firm with 22 offices across the Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, and South Central United States.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- At least 6 years of experience in land development.
- Strong project management and client communication skills.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and related software.
- High energy, creativity, flexibility, patience, and a self-starting approach.
- Commitment to the company’s Vision, Mission, and Shared Values.

- Professional registration (P.E., L.S., etc.) in one or more states where Timmons Group conducts business is preferred.
