About The Position
VHB’s Hauppauge, New York office is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. The intern will contribute to civil engineering projects while developing technical skills and learning computational software. The role involves working with VHB staff, municipalities, and other consultants to advance projects, as well as supporting engineering calculations, design plans, contract documents, and estimates. Requirements
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering.
- Ability to conduct tasks independently.
- Strong interest in civil engineering.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to independently manage multiple tasks and interact appropriately and positively with clients.
- Self-motivated with attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Interact effectively with VHB staff, municipalities, and other consultants to advance projects in a timely manner.
- Perform engineering calculations.
- Use AutoCAD to prepare preliminary and final design plans.
- Prepare contract documents, including specifications.
- Prepare engineer’s estimates.
