2027 Civil Engineering Internship
About The Position
Materials Testing Consultants (MTC) is a multidisciplinary firm providing construction materials testing, geotechnical engineering, and environmental consulting. Interns may specialize in one area or rotate through departments, completing field or laboratory work, preparing reports with engineers and project managers, and gaining hands-on industry experience. The intern travels to project sites to perform field tests, documents and communicates test results to client field representatives, and submits reports for review and processing. With guidance from a Project Manager and Project Engineers, the intern also assists with deficiency resolution.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering program.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record.
- Must pass a drug screen, physical, and background check.
- Effective communication skills.
- High ethical standards.
- Ability to travel and stay overnight for nonlocal projects if necessary.
- Regular lifting of up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Perform soil, concrete, asphalt, or masonry testing.
- Complete daily observation reports and accurately record test results.
- Monitor work procedures for compliance with project specifications.
- Communicate professionally with client representatives, including supervisors, foremen, project managers, and engineers, at project sites.
- Record and communicate deviations from specifications to the project supervisor and client.
- Maintain equipment properly.
- Perform other duties or functions as assigned or requested.
