About The Position

RS&H is seeking a Water Resources Engineering Intern for its Transportation team in Houston, Texas, for Summer 2027. The intern will collaborate with and receive mentorship from engineering associates while assisting with design and plan preparation for stormwater management and drainage projects. The role offers hands-on experience and exposure to the transportation and water resources engineering industries.

Requirements

• Must be pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering at an ABET-accredited university.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including intermediate-level technical writing and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Experience with drainage software.
• Experience or exposure to Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) plan preparation and design standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist with stormwater management, drainage design, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, water quality modeling, and environmental permitting.
• Prepare plans, designs, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Gather and provide data for engineering reports and studies.
• Perform and review design calculations.
