About The Position

TRC is hiring Civil Engineering Interns for its Summer 2027 internship program, based out of the Richmond, Virginia office. The paid, full-time internship is anticipated to run from June through August 2027, with flexible dates. The role may transition into a full-time position after graduation. Interns work under Project Managers and Team Leaders and partner with engineers, scientists, and technologists. Applications are also automatically submitted to TRC’s Summer Internship Program openings at more than 150 U.S. locations.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Be a junior or senior pursuing a bachelor's or associate degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Have solid technical and problem-solving skills.
• Be communicative, analytical, industrious, proactive, adaptable, and dependable.
• Be self-motivated and detail-oriented.
• Have Excel and Word skills at an intermediate or advanced level.
• Have technical writing skills at a basic or intermediate level.
• Have laboratory testing skills at a basic level.
• Be honest, hardworking, eager to learn, and ready to grow.

Responsibilities

• Support civil engineering design tasks, including sheet setup, drafting, and proposal development.
• Serve as an inspector and log soil samples during drilling.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as necessary.
• Potentially perform field work and occasional driving as part of project responsibilities.
