Gray AES is looking to add a Civil Engineering Intern in our Lexington, KY office for Summer 2027. Requirements

  • Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of civil engineering principles, including site layout, grading, drainage, and utility coordination is preferred.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel); exposure to Bluebeam or stormwater modeling software is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn.
  • Capable of independent research with guidance by senior team members.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, with attention to detail and a proactive attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of civil design drawings and specifications, including site plans, grading, and utility layouts.
  • Support the compilation and analysis of site data, such as topography, access, utilities, and zoning regulations.
  • Help prepare basic calculations for earthwork, drainage, and utility quantities under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Participate in the preparation of field reports, submittments, and RFIs, maintaining logs and documentation.
  • Use Civil3D software to create 2D and 3D models of infrastructure components, with support from senior designers.
  • Assist in site visits and field observations to collect data and verify design accuracy.
  • Assist in reviewing civil codes and standards for compliance and prepare documentation for internal and external review.
  • Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and consultants to support design coordination and project execution.
  • Other duties as assigned.
