About The Position

Kimley-Horn is seeking Engineering graduates to join their Greenwood Village, Colorado (CO) office in 2027. This role is focused on subsurface utility engineering and is not a remote position. The position involves analyzing, producing, and quality controlling subsurface utility engineering deliverables using technical software. It requires developing utility mapping and project exhibits from various data sources, supporting the collection and interpretation of subsurface utility information, and incorporating this information into civil engineering designs. The role also includes assisting project managers, collaborating with other disciplines, and learning relevant federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company and client practices. There is a requirement for up to 25% travel for field work.

Requirements

  • An ABET accredited engineering degree (Bachelors or Masters) by Summer 2027 in one of the following majors: Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Surveying, Geomatics, or related Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology or Surveying/Geomatics Engineering Technology.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize technical software programs on a regular basis to analyze, produce, and QC subsurface utility engineering deliverables for our clients.
  • Use field data files, field sketches, photos, utility records, survey information, and reference maps to develop accurate utility mapping and project exhibits.
  • Support the collection, organization, interpretation, and documentation of subsurface utility information for projects ranging in size and scope.
  • Contribute to pre-construction civil engineering design, planning, permitting, and analysis by incorporating utility information into project deliverables.
  • Assist project managers and collaborate across civil, survey, and other disciplines to identify utility conflicts and support project coordination.
  • Develop familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn and client practices, procedures, and standards applicable to subsurface utility engineering.
  • Learn and apply one or more software programs, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Excel, MicroStation, OpenRoads, and/or GIS.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and perform field work up to 25% of the time.
  • Perform additional responsibilities and duties as assigned.
