About The Position

Davis, Bowen and Friedel, Inc. (DBF) is seeking a Civil Engineer to perform engineering duties in planning, designing, and overseeing construction projects that improve local communities. The role involves work across a variety of land-development projects, including stormwater, roads and entrances, domestic and fire water distribution, sewer systems, pump stations, and grading. This position is in-person only; hybrid and remote work are not available.

Requirements

At least four years of related experience.
Proficiency in AutoCAD.
Demonstrated ability to market and work with planners and developers.
Ability to exercise attention to detail, innovate and develop creative solutions, communicate clearly, listen actively, ask appropriate questions, solve problems, and make sound decisions.

Nice To Haves

Four-year degree in civil engineering.
Professional engineering license in Maryland or Delaware, or ability to obtain licensure within 12 months of employment.

Responsibilities

Use design software, computer-aided drafting, and other applicable tools to plan, design, and permit water infrastructure, sanitary sewer infrastructure, roadway and entrance designs, streetscape improvements, and stormwater conveyance and management projects for residential and commercial sites, including subdivisions.
Coordinate plan reviews, project planning, and related work with private contractors, clients, and regulatory agencies.
Perform civil design analysis and calculations according to project requirements.
Plan projects using relevant materials, including drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, survey reports, and geological and topographical data.
Draft and present project-related reports, such as stormwater reports and right-of-way descriptions.
Estimate materials, equipment, and labor needed to determine project costs.
Coordinate permitting with local agencies.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
