About The Position

Stantec’s New Haven, CT office is seeking a Civil Engineer to join their transportation and infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of project management and technical expertise, suitable for leading and contributing to various transportation infrastructure projects. Stantec is looking for an individual who is technically proficient, proactive, a team player, and eager for challenges. The New Haven office provides opportunities for accelerated career advancement through client interaction and collaboration with a large, diverse team on projects encompassing roadway reconstruction, public spaces, rail, transit, and urban infrastructure. In this role, the Civil Engineer will undertake diverse tasks, including client meetings, financial and schedule management, task and personnel coordination, technical leadership, and mentoring junior staff. This individual will guide project teams in project execution to ensure successful delivery, resource efficiency, and cost-effectiveness, while also leading design efforts as appropriate. The role involves shaping and developing the local team, contributing to Stantec’s ongoing growth in the region and nationally.

Requirements

  • Experience with concept development, site planning, roadway design, grading and drainage, and utility design.
  • Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
  • Project coordination experience with the ability to lead through all phases of project document production.
  • Working knowledge of the permit and approval process with the following clients preferred: CTDOT.
  • Working knowledge of coordination with City and State Agencies for project permits and approvals.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to coordinate complex topics and develop consensus.
  • Participates and collaborates in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Demonstrates technical engineering judgment in solving problems.
  • Strong organization and coordination skills.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil3D.
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • 4+ Years of Engineering Experience.

  • Experience with CTDOT.

Responsibilities

  • Develop plan packages, approval documents, and analyses in accordance with agency requirements.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate amongst project disciplines to ensure cohesive project deliverables are prepared.
  • Lead internal project coordination meetings with team members and/or subconsultants and vendors.
  • Serve as a point of contact for day-to-day project coordination items including technical and managerial items.
  • Ensure quality assurance and quality control procedures are met.
  • Review the day-to-day work of others and provide technical guidance for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist project managers to monitor schedule and budget performance of assigned projects.
  • Assist with developing technical approaches for Statement of Qualifications and technical aspects for project interviews conducted by clients.
  • Develop proposal documentation including project scope, budgets, and design approach for projects of all sizes.
  • Develop positive relations with existing and prospective clients.
