About The Position

CDM Smith is seeking an entry-level Civil Engineer to join our Water Services Team in Carlsbad, CA! Under direct supervision, this role creates basic complexity engineering designs involving site layout development, site grading and drainage, hydraulics and hydrology calculations, water distribution systems, collection systems, storage tanks and impoundments, foundation designs, stormwater infrastructure and treatment, and occasionally single-story structures. In this role, you can expect to review draft designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, ensuring firm policies and practices are followed. You will also perform site reviews and studies to ensure designs align with location specifications and update design requirements as necessary. Additionally, you will contribute to the firm's Technical Knowledge Management (TKM) by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc. You may also submit technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals and create or work with a team to create a poster or other presentation material for a conference.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• 0 years of experience
• Basic Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices
• Basic Knowledge of engineer principles of design
• Knowledge of Microsoft business software (excel, word, etc.)
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• An appropriate and valid driver's license is required

Responsibilities
