About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified mid-level engineer in our construction group. This position offers an excellent opportunity for upward mobility within a growing firm. The role has a primary focus on construction inspection and a secondary focus on design support. The engineer will lead projects and/or perform on-site inspection and documentation of WisDOT or other client highway and bridge construction projects, verifying contractor compliance with standards, tracking quantities, reviewing pay applications, and maintaining accurate daily records. Design support involves using Autodesk Civil 3D to prepare plan sheets and revisions, assisting with roadway and structure design tasks, and performing engineering calculations. The position also involves project and team support, including leading or supporting project managers and engineers, coordinating with various stakeholders, managing multiple deadlines, and providing guidance to staff.

Requirements

Minimum of a four-year technical degree in a civil engineering related field or comparable education with relatable experience.

Responsibilities

Lead projects and/or perform on-site inspection and documentation of WisDOT or other client highway and bridge construction projects.
Verify contractor compliance with WisDOT standards, specifications, and contract documents.
Track quantities, review pay applications and maintain accurate daily records using WisDOT reporting systems.
Communicate directly with contractors, WisDOT staff, and project team members to resolve field issues.
Use Autodesk Civil 3D to prepare plan sheets, revisions, and technical exhibits for WisDOT projects.
Assist with roadway and structure design tasks as needed.
Perform engineering calculations to support design decisions and verify contractor submittments.
Lead or provide day-to-day support to project managers and engineers across multiple projects.
Coordinate with WisDOT, local municipalities, and internal team members to ensure smooth project delivery.
Handle multiple deadlines while producing high-quality work in both design and field environments.
Communicate effectively with team members, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
Provide guidance for staff, promote company growth, and advance current processes.
