About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Civil Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will lead and manage roadway design projects from concept development through final design and construction documentation. This role requires a strong understanding of transportation and roadway design principles, proficiency in industry-standard software, and the ability to work effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal teams. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with design standards and mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• 4 years of experience in civil engineering design or related.
• Progressive experience in transportation and roadway design, including the development of geometric layouts, alignments, profiles, and cross sections for public infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated proficiency in OpenRoads Designer, with hands-on experience in corridor modeling, plan and profile production, and integration of roadway geometry in accordance with project-specific and agency standards.
• In-depth knowledge of roadway design standards, guidelines, and best practices, including AASHTO and MDOT (Michigan Department of Transportation) requirements, with the ability to apply these standards independently to complex design scenarios.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage roadway design projects from concept development through final design and construction documentation.
• Utilize OpenRoads Designer for geometric design, corridor modeling, and plan production.
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, technical reports, and design drawings.
• Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal project teams to ensure project requirements, schedules, and deliverables are met.
• Perform quality control reviews and ensure compliance with applicable design standards, including AASHTO and MDOT.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance and oversight.
• Support proposal development and contribute to project scoping, scheduling, and budgeting.
