About The Position

This position is for a Civil Engineer on our Substation Engineering team located in Duke Energy’s regional headquarters in downtown Cincinnati, OH. This work group is responsible for the design of new and existing distribution and transmission substations from 4kV through 345kV in Ohio and Kentucky. Projects range from routine equipment modifications and installations to the complete design of new substations. The position requires the individual to be able to manage work between multiple projects simultaneously to ensure timely release of engineering designs. The individual will utilize a variety of tools and techniques to complete an engineering design, including current design specifications, pertinent code manuals, computer aided design/drafting software, and other reference sources. The final product is an engineering release package consisting of pertinent drawings, permits, bills of material, etc. The Engineer III/SR position are the advanced levels of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees in the Engineer III/SR position solve complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with limited to no supervision. An Engineer III/SR effectively applies fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is progressively complex and varied.

Requirements

Must have obtained Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or PE
Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience (for Engineer III)
Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience or 5 years of engineering experience with state registration as a Professional Engineer (for Senior Engineer)
A master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree
Able to drive personal vehicle or company vehicle.
Must have the ability to walk extended distances on various types of terrain.
Must have the overall stamina and ability to perform moderate physical activity.
Must have the ability to audibly and visually identify the presence of a danger or hazard.
Support for Delivery Operations during emergency storm restoration, which could require extended hours working outdoors in any weather condition.
Ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future.
