About The Position

LandDesign is seeking a Civil Engineer to provide design, technical, and production support to design studios in their Denver office. The role involves performing various aspects of civil site design, including site layout, sedimentation control, grading, storm drainage, domestic water, and sanitary sewer system design. The engineer will complete civil engineering work for assigned phases of large site developments, utilizing computer-aided software for design and calculations, and making necessary design adaptations. The position also includes assisting with jurisdictional research, developing plans and specifications, supporting construction submittals, participating in quality control reviews, coordinating with regulatory agencies for permitting, and attending client and regulatory meetings. Collaboration with internal design teams (landscape architects, planners) and external consultants is expected, along with providing excellent customer service. The role involves receiving general instructions on routine tasks and detailed instructions on new projects, and actively participating in the training of junior designers and interns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field of study.
  • Proficiency with reading construction plans.
  • Data analysis and interpretation skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D/Civil Design Software, Microsoft Office Suite and VantagePoint.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performing most aspects of civil site design, including site layout, sedimentation control analyses, development of grading & storm drainage, domestic water, and sanitary sewer system design.
  • Accomplishing most tasks associated with a larger project with limited input.
  • Completing civil engineering work for assigned phases of large site developments.
  • Completing design work and calculations using computer-aided software.
  • Making design adaptations and modifications.
  • Assisting with relevant jurisdictional/regulatory research and project requirements.
  • Assisting with the development of plans, specifications and reports.
  • Assisting with construction related submittals/RFI responses.
  • Participating in internal Quality Control review of plans.
  • Project coordination and communication with regulatory agencies to resolve permitting.
  • Participating in client and regulatory review meetings.
  • Collaborating with internal design team including landscape architects and planners, and client’s consultant teams.
  • Providing excellent customer service to clients.
  • Receiving general instructions on routine tasks, and detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.
  • Actively participating in training of Designer I and interns.
