About The Position

The City of Pomona is recruiting for a flexible-staffing civil engineering position in the Public Works Department’s Engineering team. Depending on qualifications, the position may be filled at the Assistant Engineer, Associate Engineer, or Associate Civil Engineer level. The work involves engineering and plan-checking duties related to land development, as well as the design, review, and management of public infrastructure projects. Assistant Engineers work under general supervision with training and increasing responsibility; Associate Engineers and Associate Civil Engineers work with minimal supervision and perform the full range of duties independently, including project management, staff oversight, and decisions made with greater discretion. The role supports infrastructure and development work for the City, including streets, water and sewer systems, site and subdivision plans, and construction projects. The position may also provide technical support to City divisions, developers, contractors, and the public. The recruitment may close without notice once enough qualified applications are received. Applications are reviewed continuously, with the first review tentatively scheduled for the week of November 9, 2026.
