About The Position

Farnsworth Group is seeking a Civil Engineer - Transportation in Nashville, TN. This is an exciting opportunity for a Transportation Project Manager who is looking to hone their project and client management skills while providing and making a direct impact on an already established, growing organization. The role involves serving as a project manager and/or project engineer with autonomy for project-related tasks and acting as a designated client contact. The position may involve managing multiple projects simultaneously, depending on assignment. Responsibilities include managing project schedules, ensuring timely project completion, assisting with estimating, scoping, and marketing strategies for proposed projects, and preparing engineering agreements. The role also entails providing street and highway design engineering analysis and computations, and potentially serving as the Engineer of Record on some projects. Duties include preparing or modifying reports, specifications, plans, studies, permits, and designs, and may involve delegating or supervising the work of other engineers. Active participation in supporting business development efforts, attending client and organizational meetings, and making presentations is expected. Site visits to monitor construction progress and perform other duties per contract documents are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Civil, Transportation, or Traffic Engineer program
  • 5+ years of transportation or traffic engineering experience
  • Experience working on and with TDOT, county, and/or local agency projects/clients is preferred
  • Licensed Professional Engineer, PE
  • Ability to manage and collaborate with Engineers, Technicians, Clients, and Administrators
  • Ability to contribute to several projects simultaneously
  • Working experience with Microsoft Office, MicroStation, CONNECT, and ORD preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serves as project manager and/or project engineer with autonomy for project-related tasks and as a designated client contact.
  • May have project management responsibilities on multiple projects, depending on assignment.
  • Responsible for project schedules and the timely completion of projects.
  • Assists in the coordination of estimating, scoping, and marketing strategies for proposed projects.
  • Assists in the preparation of engineering agreements for projects.
  • Provides street and highway design engineering analysis and computations and will be the Engineer of Record on some projects.
  • Prepares or modifies reports, specifications, plans, studies, permits, and designs for various projects.
  • May delegate and/or supervise the work of other engineers’ activities.
  • Actively participates in supporting business development efforts, attends client and organizational meetings, and makes presentations in support of the client and projects.
  • Visits construction sites to monitor progress and perform other duties per contract documents.
