Requirements

  • Successful completion of the Civil Engineer Trainee training program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Four years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an engineer-in-training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists, and an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline
  • Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists
  • One year of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to perform essential job functions

Responsibilities

  • Prepare plans for bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and rehabilitation projects
  • Perform geometry, quantity calculations, stress analysis, and cost evaluations for structures
  • Compile hydrologic and hydraulic data needed for environmental permits and agency approvals
  • Evaluate consultant designs, reports, estimates, and technical submissions for accuracy and compliance
  • Assist with bridge inspections, review safety findings, and maintain accurate inspection records
  • Work with project managers, agencies, and staff to solve problems and move projects forward
