About The Position

Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is hiring a Civil Engineer - Stormwater (PE) for either our Birmingham or Huntsville, AL office. The position's functions will be facilitated through project work. This role involves providing technical and thought leadership, facilitating staff development, and contributing to the growth of the stormwater discipline within the company.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering.
4 - 10+ years of experience.
Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Alabama, or ability to gain licensure within 4 months of hire.

Hydraulic Modeling (HEC-RAS 1D/2D and LA DOTD HydroWIN, FHWA HY-8 and Hydraulic Toolbox minimum)

Responsibilities

Provide technical and thought leadership to Waggoner staff and clients in the stormwater discipline.
Facilitate staff development in the stormwater discipline.
Facilitate the growth and development of the stormwater discipline at Waggoner.
Serve as Waggoner’s technical lead in executing services related to stormwater management, including planning, design, and construction administration.
Assist project managers and CAMs in developing technical scope of work, budget, and schedule for stormwater projects.
Manage all aspects of the discipline, including hiring personnel, exercising company disciplinary policies, and performing annual performance reviews.
Ensure client quality expectations are met and address quality problems.
Mentor and develop Waggoner staff in skill sets necessary for stormwater services.
Determine equipment, software, and information needs for the discipline.
Identify and develop project opportunities for new work and expanded services for clients in the discipline area.
Work closely with Business Development and Marketing staff to pursue business in the discipline.
Develop marketing and sales plans related to the discipline.
Assist in meeting company marketing and sales goals, particularly those related to the discipline.
Collaborate with the Management Team, PMs, and CAMs on discipline-related services for their projects and pursuits.
Develop proposal strategies for discipline opportunities that leverage company strengths and innovative thinking.
