This role is responsible for overseeing projects from concept through construction, ensuring technical quality, financial performance, and client satisfaction within a collaborative, employee-owned environment. The responsibilities include Project Delivery & Design Leadership, Project Management & Execution, Client Engagement & Business Development, and Team Leadership & Mentorship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, or equivalent ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of demonstrated progressive experience with site civil / land development engineering including technical design and project leadership.
  • Minimum of one year of project engineering experience leading small teams and project phases.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) professional designation required.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects, including scope, schedule, budget, and overall delivery performance.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships and serve as a primary point of contact.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams, including clients, architects, and consultants.
  • Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar engineering design software as it pertains to roadway, utilities, and grading design.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, pursue, and support new business opportunities.
  • Experience mentoring and developing engineers and design staff.
  • Effective communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record for project-related travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred or able to obtain soon after hire.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of grading, drainage, utilities, permitting, and construction administration projects from concept through construction.
  • Oversee preparation of construction-ready engineering plans, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Support the Engineer of Record for assigned projects or project components.
  • Ensure technical quality, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Provide construction administration oversight and support during project implementation.
  • Manage projects from proposal through construction, including scope, schedule, and budget performance.
  • Coordinate with clients, architects, permitting agencies, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver successful project outcomes.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, cost estimates, and resource planning.
  • Navigate regulatory requirements and secure necessary approvals and permits.
  • Monitor project performance and ensure alignment with client expectations and company standards.
  • Progress toward Engineer of Record responsibilities and project management with experience and licensure.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a primary point of contact.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including supporting proposals, interviews, and client development efforts.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Operations leadership to expand market presence and client base.
  • Contribute to strategic growth initiatives within the land development practice.
  • Mentor and develop engineers and design staff to support project delivery and professional growth.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to ensure consistency and quality across project teams.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment that supports knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
