Civil Engineer Intern

We are currently seeking a Civil Engineer Intern to support our Oak Ridge, TN office. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Civil Engineer Intern to join our team. This position is ideal for a student or recent graduate with little to no professional experience who is eager to gain hands-on exposure to civil engineering projects. The intern will support engineering staff with design, documentation, and general project assistance.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Basic understanding of civil engineering principles and concepts
- Working knowledge of: Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- AutoCAD
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Nice To Haves
- Completion of introductory civil engineering coursework (e.g., statics, materials, transportation, or structural basics)
- Familiarity with engineering drawings and plan sets
- Previous internship, co-op, or academic project experience
Responsibilities
- Assist engineers with preparation of plans, drawings, and technical documents
- Support design efforts using AutoCAD and other engineering software
- Perform basic calculations and data entry under supervision
- Assist with preparation of reports, spreadsheets, and project documentation
- Conduct research on codes, standards, and project-related topics
- Help organize and maintain project files and records
- Participate in field visits, site inspections, or surveys as needed
- Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines
