About The Position
Michael Baker is seeking a motivated Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our Transportation team in Baton Rouge! This position is ideal for an early-career engineer who is passionate about transportation infrastructure and eager to develop technical expertise in roadway, highway, and multimodal transportation projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, required
- 0-4 years of transportation engineering experience or relevant internship/co-op experience.
- Understanding of transportation design principles and engineering processes.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with MicroStation, Geopak and/or Open roads preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning, design, and development of transportation infrastructure projects, including highways, roadways, intersections, bridges, and multimodal facilities.
- Prepare engineering calculations, exhibits, reports, cost estimates, and technical documentation.
- Develop construction plans and specifications utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads, and other industry-standard software.
- Support roadway geometric design, grading, drainage analysis, stormwater management, and utility coordination efforts.
- Coordinate with internal project teams, clients, agencies, and stakeholders throughout project delivery.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including AASHTO, FHWA, and DOT standards.
- Support the preparation of permit applications, technical memoranda, and engineering reports.
