Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in North Carolina
  • 4 to 8 years of strong experience in civil engineering design with consulting
  • Knowledge of hydrological methods: Rational method, Small Watershed Method, SCS Hydrological Soils (NRCS)
  • Knowledge of commonly used software for civil engineering including: HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, ArcGIS, HY-8, etc.
  • Proficient with office software including MS Word, MS Excel, Bluebeam, Adobe, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred
  • Experience in renewable energy projects is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop and review civil engineering designs for renewable energy projects, including site development, grading, drainage, and foundations.
  • Perform engineering calculations, analyses, and simulations to optimize structural and civil components.
  • Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry’s best practices.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders to align project objectives and deliverables.
  • Prepare engineering reports, technical documentation, and project summaries.
  • Analyze survey, mapping, and materials-testing data to complete work assignments using computer modelling software
  • Create and review drawings using CAD tools
  • Ensure sites meet legal guidelines and health and safety requirements
  • Deliver civil engineering designs and optimization in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and industry practices
  • Day-to-day management of assigned projects
  • Plan, define project tasks, schedule, and deliver on-time execution of civil scope of work and project deliverables
  • Work closely with the RRC Project Managers and Civil Engineering Group Manager in the successful execution of work
  • Be responsive to the needs of the client and project requirements
  • Maintain accurate records of design modifications, field observations, and project milestones.
  • Contribute to the development of best practices, standard operating procedures, and engineering guidelines.
