About The Position

Ardurra is seeking an Entry-Level Civil Engineer I to join our team in Knoxville, TN. This position has an anticipated start date of June 2027. As an Entry-Level Civil Engineer I, you will support engineering assignments that contribute to the planning, design, and construction of a wide range of civil engineering projects, from site development and stormwater design to transportation, utilities, and community infrastructure. This entry-level role is designed to help you grow into your career with Ardurra in the civil engineering space. Under general supervision, the Entry-Level Civil Engineer I performs entry-level engineering assignments requiring the application of standard engineering principles, analytical methods, and established procedures. The role supports project execution through design development, technical analysis, documentation, and field activities, while exercising independent judgment in routine engineering tasks and appropriately escalating complex issues.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent

Responsibilities

Prepares design details, calculations, material quantities, and cost estimates, using judgment to resolve routine issues.
Develops and updates design drawings and plan sheets, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards.
Assists in preparing technical specifications, design criteria, and project documentation.
Reviews vendor bids, shop drawings, and contractor submittments for compliance and identifies discrepancies.
Supports engineering studies, modeling tasks, and technical analyses, escalating non-routine issues as needed.
Prepares technical reports and sections of larger documents with clear summaries of methods and results.
Develops and assembles permit application packages, coordinating required documentation and ensuring compliance with regulatory and jurisdictional requirements.
Conducts field tests, measurements, site observations, and data collection to support design validation and project execution, interpreting results and identifying potential impacts on design.
Performs quality checks on design deliverables, verifying alignment with project specifications, internal standards, and client expectations.
Supports project teams by completing assigned tasks efficiently, coordinating with internal disciplines, and contributing to collaborative problem-solving.
Assists proposal teams by providing technical input, preliminary design concepts, and data summaries to support pursuit strategies and proposal development.
Maintains organized project records, calculations, and supporting documentation to ensure traceability, accuracy, and readiness for review.
