LJB Inc. is a fast-growing national engineering firm specializing in civil and structural engineering and geospatial, safety, health, and environmental services. The firm has a 50+ year history of leveraging new technologies to drive innovation and bring unique and sustainable value to our clients. We are seeking candidates to fill the position of Entry-level Civil Engineer to serve a varied client base and help expand our Municipal, transportation, and water/sewer sector in the Dallas, TX, metro region. The ideal candidate will have 0-4 years of experience and possess the professional and interpersonal skills to make a positive impact on our firm and the clients we serve. The successful candidate will possess a can-do attitude, have a passion for and take pride in their work, be a creative thinker, and have a willingness to collaborate while having the ability to work independently.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
  • EIT required.
  • 0-4 years of experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to react quickly and calmly to high-pressure situations
  • Ability to work independently and in team settings
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate active job sites and construction areas, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic proficiency AutoCAD or Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

  • Design all aspects of municipal and private engineering projects including sanitary sewers, stormwater design, site plans, and minor roadway projects.
  • Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop concept plans, grading plans and site designs in conformance with client requirements and company standards.
  • Work closely with project managers to complete a variety of site civil design tasks.
  • Coordinate with survey crews.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of the client’s standards.
  • Able to adapt to quickly changing priorities and conditions.
  • This role is primarily office-based; however, occasional travel to project sites and other work-related locations may be required.
  • Must be able to report to work-related locations as required, including travel to locations that may not be accessible by public transportation.
  • Desire to innovate and solve difficult problems from inception to final deliverable.
  • Other duties as assigned.
