About The Position

Performs a variety of more difficult technical and supportive professional engineering tasks related to permit applications. This role involves reviewing and recommending approval for plans submitted for underground utility installation, construction by other governmental units, and permit paving. The position also includes reviewing associated drainage, attending meetings with various agencies, performing field reviews of construction sites, and processing residential driveway permit applications. A key aspect of this role is to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner to promote a positive image of the Road Commission for Oakland County, requiring a daily schedule that supports RCOC hours of operation. Regular and predictable onsite job attendance is an essential function.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience commensurate with the duties described above is required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Michigan Driver’s License.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Possess a valid Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Bluebeam and CityWorks is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Attends numerous meetings with other Road Commission departments and various outside governmental and private agencies relative to permit activities.
  • Performs field reviews of proposed construction sites for permit work.
  • Reviews and processes residential driveway permit applications.
  • Must perform duties in a professional and courteous manner to promote a positive image of the Road Commission for Oakland County.
  • Requires a daily schedule that supports RCOC hours of operation.
  • Regular and predictable onsite job attendance is an essential function of this position.
