About The Position

Michael Baker is seeking a Civil Engineer with aviation experience to support the planning, design, and delivery of airport infrastructure projects. This role will include a combination of project management support, leading aviation civil design teams, and field engineering duties, working closely with project managers, designers, contractors, and airport stakeholders in active airfield environments. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • 6+ years of experience supporting aviation or airport infrastructure projects
  • PE license
  • Experience working in active airfield or airport environments
  • Knowledge of airfield pavement systems, civil site design, and construction means and methods
  • Understanding of project management principles and construction coordination

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and construction of aviation infrastructure projects including runways, taxiways, aprons, airfield pavements, utilities, and support facilities
  • Serve and engineer of record for aviation civil projects.
  • Review plans, specifications, and submittals for technical accuracy and constructability
  • Perform field observations to monitor construction progress, quality, and compliance with project documents
  • Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, and airport operations to support construction phasing and access requirements
  • Assist with quantity tracking, field measurements, and pay applications
  • Support resolution of field issues, RFIs, and change documentation during construction.
  • Assist Project Managers with project schedules, cost tracking, and progress reporting
  • Participate in client, consultant, and construction meetings
  • Lead coordination between design, engineering, and construction teams
  • Prepare project documentation including meeting minutes, progress reports, and close‑out materials
  • Assist with risk tracking, issue management, and project controls
