About The Position

Kimley-Horn's West Palm Beach, Florida (FL) office is seeking an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with 2+ years of experience to join their Dry Utilities team. This role focuses on electric and communications distribution projects and is not a remote position. The position involves working on various projects such as undergrounding overhead utilities, coordinating electric and communications service for new developments, and streetlighting. Responsibilities include assisting with project planning, design, permitting, and construction administration, utilizing technical software like AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS Pro, and communicating with clients, government entities, and regulatory agencies. The role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, monitoring project progress, budgets, and schedules, and performing various engineering tasks with opportunities for on-the-job and formal training, mentorship, and exposure to plan production, project financials, and client interaction.

Requirements

  • 2+ years experience with a civil engineering design firm
  • Bachelors or Masters from an ABET accredited university in the field of Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering
  • "Engineer-In-Training" or "Engineering Intern" certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months)

  • Experience using AutoCAD and Civil 3D is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Work on a variety of projects, such as undergrounding overhead utilities, coordinating electric and communications service for new developments, streetlighting, and more
  • Assist with project planning, design, permitting, and construction administration
  • Utilize technical software programs such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS Pro on a regular basis to analyze, produce, and review deliverables for our clients
  • Attend meetings and communicate with clients, government entities, and various regulatory agencies to fulfill any regulations and requirements relating to projects
  • Work closely and collaboratively with other industry leading professionals, various jurisdictions, and contractors
  • Coordinate work with other team members
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to contribute to the successful completion of assigned projects
  • Assist in monitoring project progress, budgets, and schedules
  • Perform a variety of engineering tasks and will receive both on-the-job and formal training as well as mentorship and exposure to plan production, project financials, and client interaction
