About The Position

Kimley-Horn is seeking an experienced CAD Operator to join their Land Development team in Richmond, Virginia. This role focuses on designing and producing plan sets for various land development projects, implementing AutoCAD drafting standards, and developing technical drawings using CAD software. The position requires minimal supervision, a strong understanding of engineering principles, and the ability to quality check complex drawings and calculations. The individual will also maintain the drawing database, potentially supervise and train CAD staff, and coordinate work to ensure quality control and adherence to schedules. A key aspect of this role is developing familiarity with Kimley-Horn’s practices, procedures, and standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3+ years of relevant experience
• Advanced knowledge and proficiency in Autodesk or Bentley products
• Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self-starter
• Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication/writing skills and desire to learn
• Ability to work independently and with a team

• Associates degree preferred

Responsibilities

• Designing and producing sets of plans for commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential Land Development projects
• Implementing and managing AutoCAD drafting and plan preparation standards
• Developing technical drawings and plans using CAD software
• Making and quality checking drawings and plans of substantial complexity
• Performing multifaceted calculations
• Maintaining drawing database
• Supervising and training CAD staff
• Coordinating work activities to maintain schedules and ensure quality control
• Developing familiarity with Kimley-Horn’s practices, procedures, and standards
