About The Position

This role provides support to Project Engineers and Project Managers I/II in preparing defined elements of project designs. The engineer will collaborate with the Lea and Braze team to assist in specific assignments. Projects encompass Residential, Commercial, Mixed-Use, Public and Private Entities, and projects subject to DSA approval. The position involves design support for Site Development projects, including the preparation of plans and exhibits such as Grading and Drainage Plans, Utility Plans, Erosion Control Plans, Tentative Maps, and Feasibility Exhibits. The engineer will also assist the team with project research and coordination with governing municipalities/agencies and co-consultants like architects and landscape architects. Responsibilities include attending meetings, site visits, and field inspections with project leadership to coordinate design aspects and participating in project coordination/correspondence with consultants under guidance. Other duties involve assisting the Lea & Braze team with reports and supporting documents, and computing design calculations for earthwork quantities, cost estimates, impervious surface areas, and drainage analysis.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering
  • Ability to use AutoCad fluidly
  • Knowledge of civil engineering including hydraulic, geotechnical and structural concepts
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, multitasking and listening skills
  • Ability to effectively work in a team environment
  • Committed dedication to ethical codes of practice

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate
  • Two (2) years of equivalent professional engineering experience (if holding EIT Certificate)

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Project Engineers and Project Managers I/II in preparing defined elements of project designs.
  • Collaborate with Lea and Braze team to assist in specific assignments.
  • Design support for Site Development projects including preparation of plans and exhibits (i.e. Grading and Drainage Plans, Utility Plans, Erosion Control Plans, Tentative Maps, Feasibility Exhibits, etc.)
  • Assist team with project research and project coordination with governing municipalities / agencies and co-consultants such as architects and landscape architects.
  • Attend meetings, site visits and field inspections with Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager to coordinate various design aspects of projects with project consultants and contractors.
  • Participate in project coordination / correspondence with consultants (project architect, geotechnical engineer, structural engineer, arborist, surveyor and/or contractor) with Assistant Project Manger’s / Project Manager’s guidance.
  • Assist Lea & Braze team with preparation of reports and supporting documents.
  • Compute design calculations including earthwork quantities, engineers cost estimate, impervious surface areas and aspects of drainage analysis.
