About The Position

SSFM is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join its Civil Transportation Team and contribute to complete streets, roadway, and multimodal transportation projects across Hawaiʻi. The role supports civil design, coordination of project deliverables, collaboration with project teams and the Traffic Group, client communication, contract administration, and project-site monitoring as needed. The position is based in an air-conditioned office, with field work as needed.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
3–4 years of civil engineering experience.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
Strong communication and organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.
Ability to uphold strict ethical standards and pass reference, background, and motor vehicle checks.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Civil 3D.
Transportation or roadway design background.
Experience mentoring junior engineers.
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.

Responsibilities

Support Civil 3D and AutoCAD design for complete streets, roadway, and transportation projects.
Review, develop, and coordinate detailed plan sets, specifications, and cost estimates.
Collaborate with project teams and the Traffic Group to ensure quality and timely delivery.
Attend client meetings, communicate technical solutions, and support contract administration.
Visit project sites as needed to monitor progress and serve as an on-site representative.
