The Estimating Manager provides direction and deadlines to their team in order to deliver accurate and timely estimates and ensure profitability on major, high-risk projects with multi-million-dollar budgets involving local, state and federal contracts with key clients. The Civil Construction Estimating Manager uses professional and technical knowledge in generating bids, while training and delegating various tasks to professional staff. As a manager, s/he not only delegates tasks, but also trains, mentors and develops civil engineers; establishes deadlines and goals; motivates team; rewards or disciplines. S/he will recommend hires, raises and discipline. S/he will review specifications, blueprints/drawings; applies federal, state and local requirements to generate project estimates using estimating and other industry-specific software; leverage historical data on labor, materials, equipment and other factors used to generate total cost estimates; interact with actual and prospective clients to develop, improve and maintain improve business relationships; and understand clients’ needs and provides creative, cost-effective, safe solutions to solve clients’ challenges.
