About The Position

Austin Industrial is hiring a Civil Carpenter to construct, erect, install, and repair wood, plywood, and wallboard structures and fixtures using hand and power tools. The role requires knowledge of structural design and construction trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools, and equipment, as well as the ability to read and interpret blueprints and perform simple layouts. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

3–5 years of journeyman-level experience.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and perform simple layouts.
Knowledge of structural design and construction trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools, and equipment.

Responsibilities

Study blueprints, sketches, and building plans to prepare project layouts and determine dimensions and required materials.
Shape and cut materials to specified measurements using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
Follow safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe, clean work environment.
Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, and ramps above ground level.
Remove damaged or defective structural parts and repair or replace them using hand tools.
Maintain records, document actions, and provide written progress reports.
Construct forms or chutes for pouring concrete.
Verify structural trueness, set grade, and check for plumb.
Mix, transfer, and extend materials such as concrete and asphalt.
Fabricate and install concrete reinforcing bars.
Place and finish concrete.
Keep the job site clean, put away tools and equipment, and secure the site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
