About The Position
Constructs, erects, installs, and repairs wooden, plywood, and wallboard structures and fixtures using hand and power tools. The role requires knowledge of structural design and construction practices, procedures, techniques, tools, and equipment, along with the ability to read and interpret blueprints and perform simple layouts. Other duties may be assigned. The carpenter studies project specifications and plans, determines layouts, dimensions, and materials, and performs carpentry and concrete-related work. Responsibilities include constructing and removing forms, scaffolding, and ramps; fabricating and installing reinforcing bars; placing and finishing concrete; and maintaining a safe, clean, and secure job site. Requirements
- 3–5 years of journeyman-level experience.
- Knowledge of structural design.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and perform simple layouts.
- Knowledge of construction trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools, and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Study blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layouts and determine dimensions and required materials.
- Shape or cut materials to specified measurements using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
- Follow safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe, clean environment.
- Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, and ramps above ground level.
- Remove damaged or defective structural parts and repair or replace them using hand tools.
- Maintain records, document actions, and provide written progress reports.
- Construct forms or chutes for pouring concrete.
- Verify structural trueness, set grade, and check for plumb.
- Mix, transfer, and extend materials such as concrete and asphalt.
- Fabricate and install concrete reinforcing bars.
- Place and finish concrete.
- Keep the job site clean, pick up tools and equipment, and secure the site daily to eliminate potential hazards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
