About The Position

The Civil Carpenter will be responsible for constructing, erecting, installing, fabricating, dismantling, and repairing structures, formwork, and fixtures of wood, metal forms, and associated accessories.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent
  • One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools
  • NCCER certification may be required at some job sites
  • Written pre-employment qualification test
  • Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
  • Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.)
  • Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.)
  • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health and safety of others in the workplace

Responsibilities

  • Constructing, erecting, installing, fabricating, dismantling, and repairing structures, formwork, and fixtures of wood, metal forms, and associated accessories.
  • Studying blueprints, sketches, or structural plans for information pertaining to the type of material required and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated.
  • Selecting specific types of lumber or other materials.
  • Preparing layouts including lines and grades.
  • Marking cutting and assembly lines on materials.
  • Shaping materials to prescribed measurements.
  • Assembling cut and shaped materials and fastening them together.
  • Erecting framework for structures and laying sub-flooring.
  • Building stairs and laying out and installing partitions and cabinet work.
  • Covering subfloor with building paper to keep out moisture and laying hardwood, parquet, and wood-strip-block floors.
  • Fitting and installing prefabricated window frames, doors, door frames, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finishing hardware.
  • Constructing forms and chutes for pouring concrete.
  • Erecting temporary platforms, steps, and ladders for assembling structures.
  • Fabricating formwork, then loading, hauling, and carrying it to the job site and installing per drawings, sketches, or plans.
  • Placing and finishing concrete in formwork and setting and aligning form panels.
  • Setting grout forms for epoxy and cement grout.
  • Performing additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
