About The Position

Under close supervision, assist Civil Engineers, Technical Managers, and Project Managers with data analysis, computations, design and plan production on water/wastewater civil engineering projects. Assist with design, construction documents, plan production, maps, basic reports and other supporting documentation for water and wastewater engineering projects. Gather background information related to a project site which includes reviewing as-built plans and mapping existing utility service. Produce high-quality 1D and 2D surface water hydraulic models for floodplain mapping of individual watershed domains within the project site. Conduct feasibility studies for the construction of facilities, such as water supply systems, runoff collection networks, water and wastewater treatment plants, or wastewater collection systems. Prepare environmental documentation for regulatory program compliance. Perform hydrological analyses, using three-dimensional simulation software to model the movement of water. Attend internal project meetings and participate as necessary. Occasionally visit project sites, and report findings to Engineers and/or Project Managers. Assist in the technical analysis and perform calculations required for design. Assist with preparation of construction specifications for water and wastewater engineering projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • 2 years of experience in Civil Engineering – Surface Water or related
  • Demonstrated experience in municipal and highway water drainage projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of local drainage requirements for Southern California.
  • Demonstrated experience with municipal departments, regional agencies, state, and federal agencies in California.
  • Proficiency in at least 8 of the following software tools: AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, InRoads, ArcGIS Pro, HydroCalc, TR-55, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, FlowMaster, CulvertMaster, and PondPack.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of XPSWMM and PCSWMM Storm Water Management Models (SWMM).
