About The Position

The Civil and Structural Engineer supports power generation projects, including gas turbines combined with solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS). The role coordinates and supervises civil and structural engineering design activities—including site development, grading, drainage, foundations, and plant structures—to integrate site, civil, and structural requirements throughout project development, engineering, construction, and commissioning. Acting as the technical representative, the engineer oversees EPC contractors and engineering consultants and manages civil, structural, and geotechnical risks that could affect project cost, schedule, or constructability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 7–10 years of experience supporting civil and structural engineering for power generation or large industrial infrastructure projects.
  • Experience supervising EPC contractors and engineering consultants.
  • Working knowledge of civil site design and foundation and structural steel design for gas turbine facilities.
  • Strong technical review, coordination, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with gas turbine simple- or combined-cycle power generation projects.
  • Experience reviewing civil and structural design packages during EPC execution.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Familiarity with structural analysis and civil design tools such as STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise civil design activities performed by EPC contractors or engineering consultants, including site layout, grading, earthwork, roads, drainage, and underground utilities.
  • Review civil design deliverables for consistency with project requirements, constructability, and integration with the overall plant design.
  • Ensure civil designs address flood protection, stormwater management, erosion control, and site access.
  • Support optimization of site layout, grading, and earthwork quantities to reduce construction cost, schedule, and risk.
  • Participate in civil design reviews, value engineering exercises, and constructability assessments.
  • Coordinate and supervise structural design activities for power generation facilities, including equipment foundations, steel structures, pipe racks, buildings, and support structures for solar and BESS installations.
  • Review structural calculations, drawings, and specifications for technical accuracy, code compliance, and consistency with project requirements.
  • Review geotechnical investigations and ensure recommendations are incorporated into foundation and structural designs.
  • Coordinate structural interfaces with equipment vendors and mechanical, electrical, and civil design disciplines.
  • Verify structural designs comply with applicable codes and standards and site-specific wind, seismic, and soil conditions.
  • Participate in structural design reviews, value engineering exercises, and constructability assessments.
  • Lead civil and structural engineering coordination in interactions with EPC contractors.
  • Define scopes of work, review proposals, and manage the performance of civil, structural, and geotechnical consultants.
  • Supervise the quality, schedule, and budget of EPC and consultant civil and structural deliverables.
  • Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, and risk assessments to ensure civil and structural requirements are integrated.
  • Support resolution of civil, structural, and geotechnical issues during engineering, procurement, and construction.
  • Support and coordinate communications with regulatory authorities and other stakeholders regarding civil and structural design approvals.
  • Assist in responding to regulatory comments, information requests, and stakeholder inquiries.
  • Support public consultation or disclosure processes as required.
  • Maintain organized records of technical studies, design documentation, calculations, drawings, and correspondence.
  • Report on civil and structural design progress and technical risks.
  • Support civil and structural inputs to project schedules, budgets, and risk registers.
  • Assist with civil and structural sections of development reports, internal approvals, and financing or due diligence materials.
