About The Position

The Office of Special Events is seeking to hire an Event Coordinator who will be responsible for a set number of events and film shoots per month. They will be responsible for the following: coordinate inspections for specific events with assigned inspector(s); type, update, file and e-mail all inspection reports; ensure inspectors re-inspect event location(s), route(s) and oversee defects and repairs; ensure all defects are reported to the proper agency or utility prior to the event; coordinate and expedite repair work; mitigate impacts of construction on event production; act as liaison for the agency when attending meetings with other DOT divisions, City agencies, State agencies, utility companies, contractors and event producers to advise and ensure rules, regulations and guidelines are adhered to regarding public safety; oversee event planning and logistics on behalf of the agency; perform final inspection/walk through of event location(s) and route(s) with all relevant personnel to ensure routes are safe and free of all sidewalk and roadway defects that fall under the jurisdiction of the New York City Department of Transportation. The Event Coordinators will be required to respond to internal and external inquiries via email /phone in a timely manner; create maps, conduct conflict analysis, data entry, maintaining and overseeing office databases and construction coordination.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to '1' or '2' above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in '1' above.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate inspections for specific events with assigned inspector(s)
