About The Position

The City of Iqaluit is looking for a City Planner to join our team! The City Planner is responsible for municipal planning activities. In this role, the City Planner will implement the General Plan, Zoning By-law and other policies, and will contribute to and oversee both long-term strategic planning and urban development.

Requirements

University Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or related field
3 years of experience in Municipal or Development Planning
Computer software including GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Microsoft Office
Ability to work with territorial legislation, including Nunavut’s land ownership system, Nunavut Land Claims Agreement, and other relevant Northern issues
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to communicate and write in plain language
Valid Class 5 driver’s license
Inuktitut

Nice To Haves

APPI/CIP Membership preferred Candidate members will be considered
Experience in adjacent planning specializations will be considered
Experience with living and working in Inuit Nunangat
On-the-land experience/knowledge within Inuit Nunangat
Proficient in spatial analysis
Proficient in demography, statistics and current planning methods

Responsibilities
