About The Position

WeRoad is seeking a City Manager for its first US city, Austin. This is a community-led growth role where you will be the face of WeRoad in Austin, responsible for building the city into a self-sustaining community and serving as a blueprint for future expansion. The role involves hands-on community engagement, event management, guerrilla marketing, supporting Group Leaders, sourcing and prioritizing opportunities, and measuring the impact of all activities.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in field marketing, community building, brand activation, events, or local growth, preferably for a consumer brand, hospitality concept, or experience-led startup.
  • A deep understanding of or the ability to quickly learn the Austin community, scenes, venues, and people.
  • High degree of self-direction and ability to structure one's own work week without daily oversight.
  • Comfort with quantitative analysis, including building cost-per-lead cases and making data-driven decisions.
  • A blend of hustle and good taste, capable of executing scrappy, on-brand guerrilla marketing moments.
  • A genuine passion for community building and helping people connect in real life.
  • Excitement about WeRoad's mission and product.
  • Authorized to work in the US.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Existing relationships with Austin community organizers, venues, or creators.
  • Experience launching a local initiative from the ground up.
  • Background in travel, fitness, or membership/community-based businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Source venues, partners, and moments for field events and activations, and manage them end-to-end (logistics, staffing, follow-up).
  • Plan and execute low-cost, high-attention guerrilla marketing moments that align with WeRoad's brand voice.
  • Build and maintain authentic relationships with local Austin communities (e.g., run clubs, cycling groups, gyms, coworking spaces, professional networks) to create recurring WeRoad touchpoints and attract travelers.
  • Provide on-the-ground support for Group Leaders in Austin, assisting them in activating their networks, hosting meetups, and generating local word-of-mouth.
  • Continuously scout, evaluate, and prioritize opportunities (events, partnerships, sponsorships, out-of-home placements) based on expected return, using data to justify decisions.
  • Track all activities against key metrics such as attendance, leads generated, and downstream passengers (PAX), flagging any unmeasurable activities before investment.
