About The Position

Under immediate supervision, performs common unskilled laboring work requiring physical strength aboard the vessels and facilities of the Staten Island Ferry. Examples of typical tasks include moving, lifting, and carrying items of various weights and sizes. May be required to operate motor vehicles in connection with the performance of duties. Assists with relocation of materials and equipment as directed. Maintains work site premises to ensure that safety and comfort standards are met. May assist in minor repairs and related work; performs related duties.

Requirements

Possession of a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York.
There are certain medical and physical requirements.
Candidates must pass a drug screening to be appointed.
Applicant must either undergo a federal background check as part of the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) program or already possess a TWIC.
The TWIC must be obtained within 30 days of appointment and be maintained for the duration of employment.
Residency must be established within 90 days of appointment.

Nice To Haves

Class B Commercial Driver License (CDLB) valid in the State of New York with no restrictions.
